Dear families and friends of Siena,
The second semester is underway and we are about to celebrate Catholic Schools Week...it certainly is a busy time for our teachers, leaders, and students. Catholic Schools Week is one of the most important occasions for Catholic schools, giving us an opportunity to celebrate our faith loudly and proudly while thanking the many people who make this educational experience possible. From teachers to parents, priests and religious sisters, parishioners and donors, the nation, volunteers, and students...so many work together to ensure that faith-based education is available to those who seek it.
Our elementary schools will all have Open Houses starting on Sunday and concluding on Thursday. I hope that you will make it a point to stop by your school's open house and celebrate. Current, prospective, and alumni families are welcome.
Have a wonderful Catholic Schools Week!
Brenda White
President, Siena Catholic Schools of Racine

Hello Siena Family!
Our STAR testing opened Tuesday, January 17. Your child may have already taken or will soon be taking the STAR test. ALL students within Siena take the STAR test. Younger students take the STAR Early Literacy assessment to help our teachers monitor students' literacy skills and progress toward becoming independent readers.
The results from this test are used by teachers to better understand students' reading and math achievement levels. The tests are used to monitor student growth throughout the year, estimate students' understanding of state standards, and help teachers determine what skills students are ready to learn.
Please encourage your children to be on time and ready to do their best! Contact your school for more information.
As part of Catholic Schools Week, all Siena Catholic Schools will collect non-perishable items for the St. Vincent de Paul Society in Racine. Please check in with your school to see what is needed. Thank you all!
Siena Catholic Schools held its second annual Mission Day on Monday, January 16. The day began at Sacred Heart Parish with a prayer service, and as a way to both honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr's legacy and bring our mission to life, all employees participated in volunteer opportunities throughout the community. From nursing homes to churches, shelters to food pantries, you could find faculty and staff working together. The day concluded with a light lunch of soup and salad while chatting about our experiences. Special thanks to the Mission Day Committee for making this day of service possible.
St. Joseph teachers Mrs. Duda (K5) and Mrs. Harrington (assistant) did a book study on the variety of Gingerbread stories. They started with the original book and then learned about other multicultural versions. The K5 & 7th Grade Buddy Activity culminated the unit by building and decorating Christmas trees with sugar cones, green frosting, and various candies. The little buddies were excitedly retelling the Gingerbread stories to their big buddies, and of course the seventh graders had some much-needed fun, too.
We might not have had much snow (yet) this winter, but the second grade students at St. Rita Catholic School made it snow with...snow globes! Maybe they will bring some snowflakes to Racine. Check out the cool projects>>>
Check out CBS 58's School Bulletin highlight on SCHS Cheer! Good luck to the student-athletes and coaches!

Angel Strong... and Affordable!
How can families financially make Catholic high school a reality? We are committed to working with all families to make St. Cat's affordable through the Siena Promise Scholarship ($2,500 per year, all four years), financial aid, and numerous other scholarships.
Did you know three Siena Schools (St. Lucy, St. Rita, and soon-to-be-opened St. Sebastian) will offer a K3 program in 2023-24 and that all elementary schools offer a K4 class? K3 and K4 programs build confidence, increase faith formation, develop social skills, and provide a foundation for learning... and it's fun!
All-day daycare can average close to $800 per month. Full-time K3 and K4 is $436.11 a month for 9 months, and with our 12-month payment plan that lowers to $327.08 a month.
It might seem early to begin the enrollment process but with the small class sizes, now is the time to complete the Siena Catholic Schools Inquiry form.
