Psychology Employability

Our Psychology Employability Lead is Dr Emma Morgan, who can be contacted via the following email address: psy-employability@sheffield.ac.uk. You can also book into a drop in session.

Keep an eye out for the employability email, which will be sent every two weeks. It's packed full of information on careers events being hosted by the School of Psychology and the University Careers Service and includes many volunteering and job opportunities specifically tailored to psychology students.

You'll also be invited to various psychology-specific events throughout the year, which will be added here once they become available.

Blackboard

You have access to a careers area on Blackboard. This is in the "Organisation" area of Blackboard (the tab on the left-hand side of the screen when you log in). It contains information on:

• Careers outside of psychology

• Careers in psychology

• How to apply for a PhD

• Seeking work if you are from the BAME or LGTBQ+ communities, and/or have a disability, and/or are neurodivergent

Voluntary Research Assistant Scheme

At the start of the semester, staff members will offer a number of Voluntary Research Assistant (VRA) positions for PGTs. The positions will include a wide range of research tasks and will involve 2-3 hours of work each week during the semester. The purpose of the scheme is to set up a mutually beneficial collaboration and give interested PGTs the opportunity to get additional research experiences. More information about the scheme, and how to apply, will be circulated via email.
