In addition to the information on this page, it is vital that you check Blackboard for individual module and assignment requirements. It is your responsibility to read the submission instructions for the relevant assignment. Denial of seeing this information regarding incorrect submissions is not grounds for overturning a penalty.
Assignments must be completed and submitted by the stated hand-in deadline. The normal procedure is to submit the work electronically before the deadline on the due date. Most assignments are submitted via a Turnitin portal, but please consult Blackboard for module-specific instructions.
All assignments should be submitted using the relevant cover sheet and reflection sheet (if applicable) - these can be found in the module folder within Blackboard.
All work uploaded via Turnitin should have a submission title in the following format: Full Module Number_Registration Number, e.g. PSY6121_210156211
If either or both of these two instructions are not followed, an automatic 1 mark penalty will apply.
Submission deadlines will be clearly stated on the Blackboard site for each module. The submission time is usually 2pm (14:00), but it is your responsibility to check both the time and date for submission deadlines well before the deadline.
If your assignment gives a maximum word limit, then any words included over this limit will not be read or assessed.
The maximum word limit does not include end references, or the title.
The maximum word limit does include 'in text' references.
Late submission of assessed work will result in an immediate deduction of 5% of the total mark awarded for the first 24 hours, plus a further 5% for each subsequent 24 hours, up to a maximum of 5 working days. Details of penalties for late submission can be found on the University's Assessment Submission and Marking webpage.
If your deadline was 2pm (14:00) on a Wednesday, then the following penalties would apply; based on an original mark of 70:
Submission by 2pm (14:00) on Thursday = 1 day late = penalty of -5% = deduction of 3.5 marks = final mark of 67
Submission by 2pm (14:00) on Friday = 2 days late = penalty of -10% = deduction of 7 marks = final mark of 63
Submission by 2pm (14:00) on Monday = 3 days late = penalty of -15% = deduction of 10.5 marks = final mark of 60
Submission by 2pm (14:00) on Tuesday = 4 days late = penalty of -20% = deduction of 14 marks = final mark of 56
Submission by 2pm (14:00) on the following Wednesday = 5 days late = penalty of -25% = deduction of 17.5 marks = final mark of 53
After that = 6+ days late = mark will be 0.
Please see the information on the Extensions page and the Extenuating Circumstances page.
Academic staff will mark and return your work to you within a reasonable period; in the vast majority of cases this will be four weeks after the submission deadline. If your marks are due to be released on Blackboard, you'll receive an email from the PGT Student Support Team to let you know when this has been done. You can view the expected release date for an assignment on the relevant module on Blackboard.
Please note that all marks released on Blackboard are provisional until they have been through the Formal Examination Board at the end of your course.
You can find more information on the Release of Grades page.
