Portable Appliance Testing
Portable appliance testing will be covered by EFM Technical Services and items will be tested on risk based frequency. Details of the test results will be held by Estates and Facilities Management. All hard wired equipment will be tested by EFM.

All staff are responsible for:
Notifying the DSO of any new electrical equipment brought into the University and refrain from using said equipment until they have received written approval;
Carrying out a visual inspection of the plug, the flex and the appliance;
Assessing the suitability of the appliance for the environment and the task;
Reporting and logging any identified faults.
Personal Equipment
The University recognises that staff and students bring personal laptop computers, tablets, mobile phones and chargers onto campus. There is no objection to sensible use of personal equipment providing it conforms to EU standards and is compatible with the UK 230V, 50Hz electrical supply.
