- Timetables for Introduction and Induction Week Activities
The links below are for the timetable of the activities taking place during Introduction (Commencing on Monday 18 September) and Induction (Commencing on Monday 25 September) weeks. Click on the appropriate link for your programme of study (this will take you to a Google Sheet showing your Intro and Induction week timetable). Please keep in mind that the timetable is subject to change (make sure you revisit this page before arrival).
All talks will be recorded for the benefit of those arriving late or unable to come to Sheffield. However, please let us know if you are coming to Sheffield but are likely to miss any of the lab sessions. We may be able to place you in a different session. Send an email to ugadmin.biosciences@sheffield.ac.uk
Introduction and Induction week activities should show on iSheffield with details like time and venue. The information about your tutorial group and first tutorial will be in the second tab (in red) in the appropriate link for your programme. First search for your name in the list to find out your tutorial group number. You can then find out the time and location of your Introduction week tutorial from the list in the same page.
Virtual Tour of Biosciences
We also encourage you to take this Self-Guided Tour (link to Google doc) around the Biosciences campus before the tutorial in introduction week.

Sustainable Lab Coats
The production and consumption of textiles have severe environmental impacts. The carbon footprint associated with manufacturing one lab coat is 16.5 kg; for the approximately 500 students joining the Biosciences this year, this comes to more than 8.2 tonnes of greenhouse gasses.
The university is working hard to reduce its environmental impact. Hence we decided to introduce a Sustainable Lab Coats Scheme.
How will it work?
At the beginning of your studies, you will be lent a lab coat to use and keep you safe in practical classes during your coming years of study. We will request the lab coat back towards the end of your studies. It will be laundered and then passed onto a new cohort of students to re-use.
Please look out for this request to return your lab coats towards the end of your studies, in 3 or 4 years!
If three year groups of approximately 500 students use the same lab coats, we will prevent the emission of 25 tonnes of greenhouse gasses!
