Connecting to Internet and accessing University resources

Connecting to the University campus WiFi and Internet

After you have completed your IT account registration you can connect your devices to the campus wireless network and access online services.

The wireless network is called ‘eduroam’.  For full details on how to connect, with any device or operating system, see the University main page here:

If you need additional help connecting to the wireless network, help will be on hand during the introductory and induction week.

You can also contact the IT Service Desk, or talk to staff on the Tech Bar in the Information Commons building.

For further help and advice on accessing essential computing and IT services, see our guide provided in this website:

MUSE - My University of Sheffield Environment

Once you receive your  IT account (you will be issued with a username and password) you can then log into the members area called MUSE and access services such as Blackboard,  email, timetable, library resources and much more.

Step 1 - Log in to MUSE

From the top bar of the Sheffield University homepage (or any official University of Sheffield web page)

Click the Log into MUSE link to sign in with your user credentials.

Step 2 - Enter your user details.

On the secure login page that follows enter your username and password.

Note. For additional security on your student account, Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is now required once you sign in.

Help will be on hand to help you set this up, if needed, but full instructions are here on the University page

Once you have your MUSE account you then then take advantage of all the features and services from the Student hub.

Also, see our quick guide video that gives an example of logging into MUSE and accessing the Student hub.
