September 21, 2018 - 7th Grade Announcements

Monday - Wednesday, 9/24 - 9/26, Camp Seymour. We are headed to Camp Seymour on Monday! Please arrive to school before 8:30 a.m. with your gear. Drop off your gear in E1, and bring your day pack (with lunch, writing utensil, journal, and rain jacket) with you to the lab. If you haven’t already, please bring medications in zip bag and the medical form.
Friday, 9/28, Field Trip to the Henry Gallery. The 7th Graders will be revisiting the work of Mickalene Thomas, whose work they saw at Seattle Art Museum last year. This time they’ll see her exhibit Muse: Photographs and Tête-à-Tête. The show is an amazing portrait of a diverse female artist’s unique take on photography, portraits and mixed media collage, and will serve as a kick-off for their photography study in Art class. Note: this is an art gallery, and students will see partial nudity. If you’ve seen the exhibit or heard about a video component geared toward adult viewers, please know our students will only be viewing the photography portion of the exhibit. Important Information for SGS 7th Grade Parents

Weekly Blog Post: 7th Grade Science

Seventh Grade Science is beginning the year by using measuring tools and learning how to record accurate measurements of random objects. We are using different types of balances and scales to measure mass, and calculating volume by using rulers and graduated cylinders. Students are challenged with recording all the numbers they are certain of, plus one estimated digit (the beginnings of understanding significant figures for high school). As we dive into chemistry next month, students will be observing and measuring reactants and products in their experiments.
