SUMMER 2022 ALUMNI: KHALED SALEH
What is a typical day like during your EP?
Wake up get ready to eat breakfast and then head to lecture in the morning, meet your classmates and then go to a nearby library or the dorm to do homework/study and then head to lunch. Meet with friends to go out and explore campus, and we would sometimes have activities planned with our RA.
What was the biggest challenge of your EP?
The biggest challenge of my EP was being independent for the first time. There was no one to tell me to do this or that. I had to make sure I got up in the morning, studied for quizzes, as well as going out to be social, and took advantage of all the resources, places, and activities around me.
What was the biggest reward of your EP?
The biggest reward of my EP was getting to experience independence and meet new people as well as learning about the history of the major I want to study. I got to stay on campus at Cornell which is a huge accomplishment for me. I was able to challenge myself and the result of that was getting good grades for my Cornell transcript.
What do you wish you had known before you went on your EP?
I wish I would’ve knew that time will fly. I was worried the first 2 days at Cornell. I had so many things coming up and I was extremely stressed. After the first couple of days, I got to make new friends and soon, the three weeks were almost over.
What advice do you have for future SEO scholars who are considering your EP?
The advice I would give would be, to be prepared for literally anything. For example, I broke my glasses while I was on my EP and I had to order myself glasses online. Another piece of advice is to advocate for yourselves and participate in lectures as well as not get distracted by your surroundings. Get your work done on time right after the lecture so that you will enjoy the rest of the day without stress.
