The Executive Board, by recommendation of the director, may grant sabbatical leaves of absence without pay. Such leaves of absence will be granted for reasons such as, but not limited to, educational improvement, professional enhancement, or extended maternity purposes. Such leaves are not granted to individuals who desire to see if they prefer another job. All applications for a sabbatical leave of absence must by submitted to the director on an approved form before the regularly scheduled Executive Board meeting on the third Wednesday of March. By March 20 of the school year in which the leave was taken, the Executive Board will notify employees on sabbatical leaves of their requirement to notify SEDC of their commitment and intent to return.
