Language and Identity

It is critical as an educator to understand that Language and Identity, including language and its relationship to culture and identity, language loss – issues and implications, language revitalization – what it is, what it means, and identity and its relationship to schooling is important to Native American and Indigenous populations. Tribes experience language loss often due to the effects of colonization and tribes have shown resilience through contemporary language revitalization.
