Culturally Appropriate Assessment

When working with Native American and Indigenous students, it is critical that educators understand and implement culturally appropriate assessment methods in order to determine interventions with students. Educators must take into account various factors that may impact Indigenous students in the assessment process, such as local or cultural norms or the impacts of historical trauma. This section includes resources for building an understanding of these factors, as well as other assessment issues, such as bias or validity issues with Indigenous youth. It also includes resources for assessment, such as ecosystemic, authentic, and dynamic tools.
