Brain Fitness Online

Summer 2020

About the class

Brain Fitness Online is a class which combines a brain healthy curriculum with practice using a brain training tool, BrainHQ. There are several features of this class:

  • Weekly email: Each week, you receive a weekly email which details what will be discussed during the week.

  • License to an online brain training program: All registered students receive a semester license for the scientifically designed and peer reviewed brain training program, Brain HQ.

  • Weekly video class to touch bases with classmates and expand on that week's topic.

  • Most weeks, a self-graded quiz

There are 2 choices of curriculum:

  • BF Basics: This is a general curriculum for 1st time students. It provides the background information necessary to understand the components of brain health and to begin to learn more about healthy brains.

  • BF Topics: Each semester, we look at an assortment of topics related to brain health. Some have been discussed before, and some are brand new.

Session with Dr. Henry Mahnke

Last Spring, we had a hour with Dr. Henry Mahnke of PositScience, one of the neuroscientists behind the Brain HQ program. For those who missed, you can click below for the recording of the full session. Thanks to Dr. Mahncke for his time and for your excellent participation!

BrainHQ program was topic of a brain training video report on CNN with Sanjay Gupta, and featured one of our students, Kathy Lasky. Click here to view this fun video.

Weekly Zoom Sessions

Many weeks, we offer a Zoom session. The day or time may differ depending upon your instructor, but the instructions are always the same.

You may be asked to download the Zoom software, if you don't already have it. When you download the program once, you will not have to do it again on your computer.

NOTE: Some people who do not have a webcam or microphone will call in AND view on video. This way, you can see what we are doing and communicate with us.

Do you have a mobile device? Then go to the app store and download the free Zoom app and set it up. Then, when you click on the link for your session, it will automatically open in the app. Or, just as easy, open the app and tap join a meeting, then add the meeting ID.

For instructions on joining a specific Zoom session, please see the options below the video instructions.

Remember, it is optional to join our Zoom meetings. We hope you do, but if you don't, we hope you will enjoy the lesson and videos each week.
