Neurodiversity Lesson

This week’s lesson is based research by Thomas Armstrong, PhD. and his book, The Power of Neurodiversity, to help us understand the workings of differently-wired brains. We will look at where in the brain these neurological differences occur; how genetic and biological differences might influence behaviors, thoughts, and abilities; and why it is important to understand the merit as well as the challenges of neurodiversity. A look into these uniquely-wired brains will give us a better understanding of how and why our own brains work the way they do, and hopefully, help us to appreciate the vast natural differences that exist in all of us. Neurodiversity is a new field of study that recognizes the attributes of differently-wired brains that encompasses all human brains – a concept where disorders are simply viewed as differences.

The BrainHQ Connection

A question often asked of Posit Science is: “How can brain training exercises and plasticity-based, non-invasive practices help people with cognitive diseases, brain injuries or neurodiverse conditions that create challenges to cognitive processing?” The study of brain plasticity (which the BHQ exercises are based on) has revealed amazing discoveries in health and healing. These findings can be applied to our everyday lives to reduce the symptoms of the following syndromes, and to keep aging brains fit and healthy for a long life of wellness. To learn more, read:

The BrainHQ exercises have been shown to be successful in improving a number of conditions that plague the brain. Take a look at any of the following articles from the BrainHQ website to learn more about specific benefits to the following:
