Abstract
The study is conducted to determine Higher Education Institution (HEI) students' mental health well-being; its significant difference in terms of demographic data of HEI students at St. Dominic College of Asia in Bacoor, Cavite. Other objectives of the study are to determine the state of autonomy, environmental mastery, personal growth, personal relation with others, purpose in life, and self-acceptance among HEI students during the pandemic. One hypothesis has been proposed: There is no significant difference in mental health wellbeing on HEI students during pandemic outbreaks according to demographic data. The study gathered data using an adopted questionnaire from psychologist Carol Ryff, the psychological well-being (PWB) scale. Convenience sampling methods were used to select the respondents that will use the most readily respondents. The questionnaire is distributed to 104 HEI students, and all questionnaires are duly filled out and returned by HEI students, representing a 100% response rate. The respondents’ demographic data is evaluated using descriptive analysis, which includes frequency distribution and percentage, while Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) is used to test the hypothesis. The study reveals that personal relationship with others has the highest score among the six psychological well-being factors based on psychologist Carol Ryff. In line with this, a high score with personal relationships with others is interpreted that has a positive relationship with others; concerned with welfare, capable of deep empathy, affection, and intimacy; give and take to human relationships. Furthermore, the study reveals a significant relationship between mental health wellbeing and demographic data in terms of sex. On the other hand, study reveals that age, civil status, place of origin, academic status, and year level have no significant differences in the mental health wellbeing of the HEI students during the pandemic.
