Abstract
This research aims to find the relationship of self-concept and self-esteem among selfie users from college students of St. Dominic College of Asia. There were one hundred (100) participants through purposive sampling technique. The following criteria for selecting the respondents are the following: participants must be taking selfie, must have social media networking sites, and are uploading selfie pictures online. Rosenberg Self-Esteem scale, a ten-item Likert type scale with four-point scale was used in measuring self-esteem in social science research that made it reliable and valid quantitative toll for self-esteem assessment. The second part was the multidimensional self-concept scale by Fleming and Courtney (1984). This scale was used for research purposes and not for self-assessment. The scale was chosen due to the good validity and reliability of it. Results showed that the self-esteem and self-concept have significant relationship based on the study. The computed p value is .006 is less than .05 which means that there is a significant relationship between self-concept and self-esteem resulting to rejecting the null hypothesis that there are no significant relationship between self-concept and self-esteem scores.
