Abstract
This study seeks to explore the mental toughness and self-esteem of college student athletes of St. Dominic College of Asia. Fifty (50) student athletes from SDCA were picked from each sport. The researcher used Rosenberg self-esteem scale and mental toughness scale. All items are answered using a 4-point Likert scale format ranging from “strongly agree” to “strongly disagree”. The mental toughness questionnaire is an 18-item test, while the Rosenberg self-esteem scale is a 10-item scale by Peter Clough. That measures global self-worth by measuring both positive and negative feelings about the self. The researchers collected then analyzed and interpreted the result of their answers using Pearson-r. The result shows that the p-value between mental toughness and self-esteem which shows that the variance between two variables is highly significant. However, the score of mental toughness is high then the score of self-esteem is low. That means that the variables cannot be in a neutral state.
