Abstract
This study aims to identify the macroinvertebrates that were collected from San Rafael 1 Creek in Noveleta, Cavite. It exposes Biology students to field work in marine biology in assessing coastal ecosystem resources such as macroinvertebrates. At the same time, it guides them in performing standard sampling collection and specimen identification and classification. The researchers chose San Rafael 1 Creek in Noveleta, Cavite as the study site. Utilizing a descriptive research study, macroinvertebrates were collected, identified, and classified as references available to the researchers. PDF documents by Dolorosa and Galon (2014) and del Norte-Campos et. al. (2020) were also used in the study. Based on the findings, the macroinvertebrates that were collected were classified under two (2) Phyla: Phylum Mollusca and Phylum Arthropoda. Under Phylum Mollusca, two (2) Classes were identified: Class Gastropoda and Class Bivalvia. On the other hand, only one (1) Class was determined under Phylum Arthropoda: Class Crustacea. The researchers found that most of the macroinvertebrates collected are usual inhabitants in the Splash Zone. Different methods were recommended to accurately identify the macrobenthos in the said area.
