Abstract
This qualitative research project is a case study to find effective home literacy practices in English subjects experienced by the selected Landy National High School learners. This is to foster parent involvement and best support students' literacy development. Learners require rich home literacy practices where the participation of parents engages in effective literacy practices. The case study was proposed and conducted during the Covid-19 pandemic, which changed the quality of the participant's home literacy practices and the researcher's ability to engage with study participants fully. The home literacy practices were typically seen during face-to-face home visitation for observation and interviews. Although the study is being proposed to the parents and the participants, it is often difficult to support the learners' full engagement in the content and the parents' opinions towards their children's study habits. Most learners say they study independently and seek help once needed, even if they can work most of the time on their own. The researcher found that reading is one of the most effective home literacy practices during distance learning. Despite lacking reading materials, most participants seek ways to support their eagerness to learn and read.
