Abstract
This study aims to explore the roles and responsibilities of Nurses during the COVID-19 pandemic and how they managed to take care of other people after their own recovery from COVID-19 infection. The purpose of this research is to explore the lived experiences of nurses as patients during the COVID-19 pandemic and navigate caring encounters. The study was conducted in St. Dominic Medical Center. The researchers utilized phenomenological design. Online distribution and collection of data were conducted among four nurses who were purposively selected from November 2020 to January 2021. Data responses were submitted online by the participants and validated by the researchers. The thematic approach was employed all though out the data analysis. Six themes were developed based on the responses of the participants, including ‘fear of losing myself,’ ‘anxiety is contagious,’ ‘feeling betrayed by the government,’ ‘being rejected,’ ‘very supportive of our needs,’ and ‘I miss my family.’ Results of the study were utilized by the nurses, other frontliners and the general population in battling or combating COVID-19.
