Abstract
The aim of this concept analysis was to define compassion fatigue in relation to palliative or hospice care nursing. Nursing as a growing profession faces many adversities which affect the value of care delivered to the clients. Over the years, this change made an impact on the quality of life of healthcare professionals. The quality of life of healthcare providers is described as the general well-being of a person, in terms of health. It has become a prominent issue in the healthcare setting and practice. The emergent needs of the demands from the healthcare providers have increased affecting the provision of health services among individuals and communities.
Additionally, compassion fatigue continues to be a sensitive issue in the health care setting. Many healthcare providers have dealt with this kind of issue which is not given proper attention. Awareness should be made to promote a solution for the growing issue of compassion fatigue not just in the field of healthcare but in other disciplines as well.
In this concept analysis, empirical referents are identified and a situational presentation of the concept of compassion fatigue is illustrated in the model and contrary cases.
