Welcome to the Social Science Virtual Learning University page! We’re so glad you’re here! Below are some activities to challenge and keep you learning throughout the summer. If you are unable to complete the challenges below for any reason, feel free to adjust the activity to meet your learner's specific needs. Happy Learning!
Talk to your parents or guardians about the rules in your house or family. Ask the grown-ups what helped them think of those rules and why they are so important.
When you go to the zoo or a place that has a map, point to a location or different exhibits you would like to see. Help your family navigate the way.
Have a lemonade stand in your community or create a pretend grocery store using empty containers. Label how much each costs. Invite people to come and shop.
Ask a grandparent or older adult about how life was different for them when they were a child. Ask about schools, parks, phones, chores, games, and music. Draw a picture of something you think might be different in the future.
Create a Family Tree with as many members of your family as you can. Make sure you state the relationship of each person in the family.
Think about a national holiday we celebrate in our country (for example- 4th of July, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving). Design a postage stamp to represent that holiday.
