Today, we will be reading "Nature's Wonders" which is includes poetry about our amazing earth. We will exploring Author's craft as we read through the poetry.
Just like an author uses text structure to design an informational piece, a poet crafts, or designs, a poem so that it looks and sounds a certain way. A poet’s style of writing is called voice. A poet’s voice is unique and may tell the reader how the poet feels about a topic.
Poet's use:
figurative language and imagery are important tools an author uses to create a picture in the mind of the reader. Poets add meaning by connecting ideas with figurative language and create images with details that tell how something looks, sounds, feels, tastes, or smells.
comparisons such as similes and metaphors can help a reader recognize voice.
