Character Traits

Good Readers understand what character traits are and how we identify them.

Chapter 1

I can:

Construct a definition for what a character trait is
Analyze character traits and identify how you can find them
Understand the difference between inside and outside character traits.

Characters in our books have both ouside and inside traits.

Outside traits are what we look like, they are physical details about us. Inside traits are related to we act and what we feel.

As we meet the characters in our book, readers should analyze the characters in the book and look for the hints and clues the author gives us to identify their charcters traits.

What are charcater traits?

Character traits: words that describe character's personality or qualities that make. them who they are. In other words, how you would describe that character to someone else. Everyone has character traits, both good and bad.

Character traits describes a behavior or an attitude of a person. Everyone has character traits, both good and bad.

We can figure out alot about a character if we pay close attention to:

how they feel?
what they do (actions)?
what they say?
what they think?

Today, we will collect data about our characters feeling and actions. We record the important things they say and think.
