Today, we will revisit "Blind Ambition" and look for idioms, similes, and metaphors (figurative language). We will look closely at the figurative language that we find in the text and discuss how it benefits us as the reader.
Identifying figurative language can deepen your understanding of the text.
Similes and metaphors are used to make comparisons between two things in an interesting way.
An idiom is an expression whose meaning is different from the literal meaning of a group of words.
Can you find figurative language?
As we revisit the text, look for examples of idioms, similes, and metaphors as you read Blind Ambition.
Reread paragraph 3, page 130 to find an example of an idiom. What idiom does the author use? What does it mean?
Find an example of figurative language in paragraph 8, page 132 What type of figurative language did you find? What does it compare?
