Today, we will be reading another non fiction text called "The Grand Canyon". This text is told using literary techniques. Meaning it is told more like a story. The author in this story tells you what happens over time during a one day visit to the canyon. We will also practice making inferences. Inferences helps us figure out things that the author doesn't tell us explicitly.
Authors often don’t explain everything that is happening in a text. They may leave some things for readers to figure out.
An inference is a smart guess based on clues in the text and what readers already know. Making inferences helps readers fill in the missing information the author does not provide.
