Why do some animals have eyes on the side of their head and others on the front?
Predators have eyes on the front of their head. This binocular vision allows then to accurately judge the distance to their prey. Binocular vision is a type of vision in which an animal has two eyes capable of facing the same direction to perceive a single three-dimensional image of its surroundings. Let's them see depth. Tigers (cats), dogs (wolves) and owls
Prey animals have the eyes on the side of their head, affording them 360° vision. Very useful for spotting thier predators. This helps them avoid predators. (Horse, rabbit, rhino's)
Rhino eyes are on the side of the head which means they don't have binocular vision. Rhinos are also color blind. Although thier site is poor they compensate with an amazing sense of smell and ability to hear.
