The Sanger ISD New Teacher Tribe Academy helps support first-year teachers. January 31st, Sandy Snow presented strategies to these teachers for using differentiation in lessons in the classroom. Using content, product, process, and environmental elements, first-year teachers learn how to differentiate based on readiness, interest, or learner profile.
SISD Benchmark testing is underway. Students in STAAR-tested grade levels are currently completing the released STAAR tests from the previous year. This gives students a preview of the structure and rigor of the assessment they will take later in the year. Teachers use this data to drive instruction in the classroom.
On January 25, members of the Textbook Adoption Committee traveled to the Region 11 Textbook Adoption Preview Day. Committee members attended presentations from vendors that outlined components of their textbooks.
Mike Picha, Chief of Sanger ISD Police, presented his yearly report.
Project Manager Mr. Kelly Teems provided his monthly update to the board on the progress of construction for the bond projects.
New High School:
Site cut & fill are complete, as are the moisture conditioning and flex base cap for the Field House location.
Pier drilling and pouring are ongoing at area D.
We have drilled over two hundred piers, accounting for areas J, G, and D.
Underground utilities have begun their work to install sewer lines and bring water to the project, and that work will be ongoing for several weeks.
Plumbing has been laid in for area J, which is the storm shelter area, and has been inspected.
Grade beams for area G are being poured this week.
We are pouring half of the slab for area J storm shelter this week.
Agricultural Center:
Steel delivery is still scheduled for April 1 at this time, but we are hoping to have it before then.
There is a crew on standby and ready to start erecting the building as soon as the steel arrives.
Underground boring from the west side of Keaton Rd to the project site has been completed to bring two water lines off of the city main.
There will be two water lines coming off of the main.
One will be a 6-inch line to feed the fire hydrants, and one will be a 2-inch line to bring water supply to the building.
Those lines have been completed, inspected, and backfilled.
Work to install a transformer will begin shortly, as will the work to install the septic system.
Data/fiber lines are being run from the current middle school to the new project site this week.
The conduit is installed, and the fiber just has to be pulled to the data room site of the Ag Barn.
The concrete curb footers for the CMU walls have been poured, and that wall will be going up soon.
Clear Creek Intermediate:
The rooftop units have been placed at all locations.
The new vestibule at the cafeteria addition is in progress, and brick masonry is going up this week.
The canopy shell for the loading dock area behind the new kitchen addition is done.
The drywall and electrical in the kitchen are almost all finished.
The concrete floors for the new walk-in freezer and cooler have been poured.
HVAC ductwork in all areas has been finished. In the non-storm shelter area, all the walls in the corridors and classrooms are finished and painted.
All the tile work in the corridors is done, and the ceiling grid in the corridors is going in.
The wiring for the new fire alarm system is being installed throughout the building.
The tile in all of the new restroom locations is almost finished, and all plumbing has been inspected as well.
The frame for the south-end canopy is complete, and the sidewalk on that end has been poured.
Almost all building exterior work for this project has been completed.
In the coming months into the summer, we will focus on finishing all the interior spaces and renovating and expanding the cafeteria.
The only remaining exterior work is trim work, downspouts and gutters, canopy, fire suppression storage tank, and the detention pond and fencing and landscaping.
