Campus Spotlight- Sixth Grade Center

Principal Larry Beam presented results for the Sixth Grade UIL Academic Competition.
Assistant Superintendent Jennie Flaa provided the board with this update on curriculum and instruction.
The final session of the SISD New Teacher Tribe Academy is complete! This session focused on behavior management skills. Teachers learned effective ways to connect with students to continue building positive relationships. Dr. Hughes addressed the new teachers regarding possible motives for student behaviors and ways in which to reshape these specific behaviors.
Parents new to our Dyslexia program participated in an informative evening dedicated to understanding dyslexia and how our program can best support their child. In addition, parents learned valuable insights, resources, and strategies to empower their child’s learning journey.

Clean sweep at District! Both boys and girls, varsity and JV, were District Champions! We will have 24 girls athletes competing in 16 Area Meet events and 20 boy athletes competing in 14 events. The Area Track Meet will be in Springtown on Wednesday, April 10th.
The Lady Indian softball team's overall record is 24-5, undefeated in district! They have only allowed three runs during district games!
Indian Baseball is currently 6-2 in district play, with three more games this week.
The boys and girls tennis teams have competed well at tournaments in Denton and Springtown. District meets will be JV on Tuesday, April 9th, and Varsity on April 23rd and 24th at Burkburnett HS.
The girls' golf team won District and received a first and second-place individual finish, qualifying six girls for the Regional tournament. The boys were third at District and qualified an individual to Regionals with a first place finish overall. The Regional tournament is in Lubbock on April 15, 16, 17, and 18.
Project Manager Mr. Kelly Teems provided his monthly update to the board on the construction progress for the bond projects.
New High School:
Areas G, J, A & B slabs have been poured.
1st and 2nd lifts of ICF have been poured at the storm shelter area J.
Structural CMU ongoing in the non-storm shelter in area J.
All grade beams are complete.
Beginning to pour grade beams at the Field House and Concession/Restrooms.
Continue the sanitary sewer installation along FM 455.
Continue the stormwater bypass. (will be ongoing for several weeks)
Plumbing and electrical underground are out of areas C&D, and inspections and backfill are
currently being done.
Pour slabs C&D next week.
Agricultural Center:
Septic system is installed and backfilled.
CMU walls are going up.
Plumbing and electrical inside the CMU is ongoing.
The gas line has been run under Keaton Rd to the project site.
Working on getting an address set up for the Ag Center.
Getting quotes for FF&E.
Structural steel for the building has been delivered and will start going up very soon.
Clear Creek Intermediate:
Non-Storm shelter Addition:
VCT flooring in the classrooms is almost complete and ongoing in corridors.
Ceiling tiles throughout are almost complete.
Fire sprinkler drop-ins are done.
This area is about 85% complete.
Power is on, and all HVAC and lights are up and running.
Storm Shelter Area:
VCT flooring is going in, and we are almost ready to start putting down the resinous flooring in the
restrooms.
Emergency power for the storm shelter has been installed.
Power is on, and all HVAC and lights are up and running.
Once resinous flooring is down in the restrooms, they will install the restroom stalls and
fixtures.
The drinking fountains and the hand washing stations are already in place.
Kitchen:
The fire pump for the riser system is being installed and is almost complete.
Grease trap insulation complete.
Ready for ceiling tile installation as all above ceiling inspections are complete.
Power is on.
Exterior:
Cafeteria Expansion Vestibule work is ongoing.
Concourse overhang is framed and ready for the brick masons.
Detention pond is done, and the headwalls are in.
The canopy at the kitchen back entrance near the loading dock is almost done
The southside canopy along the fire lane outside the storm shelter portion of the addition is almost done.
Getting close to placing the fire suppression water tank.
Landscaping to begin soon.
VLK is working with the civil engineer on finding a way to downsize/modify the berm out in
front of the school that is part of the stormwater control system.
In keeping with normal board meeting affairs, the board heard financial and utility reports from CFO Monica Herren and an HR update from Deputy Superintendent Leann Loyless.
