General Announcements
2024 Yearbooks are almost sold out! If you purchase one of the final copies now, you will also receive a ticket to our Yearbook Distribution and Signing Party to be held during class in May with food, music, and fun. Pay with a card at Jostens.com or bring $85 cash or check payable to MBHS to the Finance Office during lunch. Only those students who purchased a Yearbook will receive a pass to this event, so don't miss out.
JROTC is active the next two weeks!
Saturday, 16 March, four JROTC cadets attending the all SDUSD JROTC formal Cadet Ball at the Town and Country Hotel in Mission Valley. Cadets’: Summer Ramsey, Madison Walker, Melina Puga Sanchez, Kaelyn Walters, and Rebecca Polonsky.
Thursday 21 April from 10-12, five of our cadets will attend the Third Annual Mt. Soledad Women’s History Leadership Brunch (Summer Ramsy, Melanie Savoca, Kaelyn Walters, Phoenix DiProfio and Madison Walker), as guests of the Coast Guard Sector San Diego and Coast Guard City San Diego.
Saturday 23 March: we have 10 cadets – led by Cadets’ Lole Ulutu and Angelo Lewis compete in the annual all SDUSD JROTC fitness challenge at Hoover High Schooll
The Mission Bay Music Business Program will be producing the second concert of their series at Meraki Event Space and Lounge March 21st at 6PM featuring professional trumpeter Gilbert Castellanos. Tickets and dinner packages can be purchased at missionbaymusic.com. All profits benefit the music program.
Badminton! Meeting for students interested in playing on the badminton team for the 2024-25 school year on Tuesday, March 19 at 1:25 p.m. in Room 332.
Congrats to Senior Brandon Cheeks, at the time of his jump, he was ranked #1 in the USA 6'10 is the new Mission Bay High School School record. (Show video: of Brandon's High Jump, Jakalya has it)
Next congrats to Senior Justin Reichenberg, for breaking the Mission Bay High School record in the 300mH. The record was held by a Shannon Nowden back in 2000. (Jakalya has the clip but might be too long)
Congrats to Sophomore Chris Adamson, last Saturday at Patrick Henry High School, Chris set the official National Record for T11, fully blind category, in the 100m, 200m and Shot Put. Chris will compete this summer for Team USA at the Para Olympic Team Trials in Florida, as the number 1 high school athlete in his division!
Thursday March 21, 2024 Mission Bay will host Saints, OLP and Canyon Hills. If Mission Bay wins we will be one step closer to being league champions! We want the support from the staff and student body as this will be our last home dual meet of the year so come support. First race starts at 4pm. GO BUCS
Congressional Art Competition - The annual Congressional Art Competition is now open to all high school students in the 50th Congressional District. The winning artwork will be proudly displayed in our nation’s Capitol for one year. Learn how to apply here: https://scottpeters.house.gov/art-competition
Key Details for the 2024 Art Competition:
Deadline: April 19, 2024, at 3:30pm
Submission Location: District Office at 4350 Executive Dr., Suite 105, San Diego, CA 92121 (Torrey Pines Bank building, parking validated for the lot behind the building)
A reception with the submitted art will be held sometime in May at the San Diego History Center and display all entries throughout the summer.

ACES TUTORING - ACES Tutoring is available before and after school in the library with teachers and our SYTLE Peer Tutors to help you with all of your classes . We can help with writing, research, math, science, history, English, Spanish, psychology, film, college apps, college essays, extended essays, and IAs.

Class Election Week: This week is Class Election Week. Be sure to check Instagram @mb_bucs or look for QR codes around campus ON FRIDAY to Vote! You can only vote once and only for your class.
ASB Applications are Live and due April 12!!!
It's time to apply to be in the ASB Class for the 2024-25 school year! Do you have great ideas to help make out school activities better? Then apply to be in ASB!!! Help us plan pep rallies, dances, spirit days, student section game night themes, field trips and so much more! Applications are due on Fri, April 12 no later than 12pm. Late applications will not be accepted. Once you apply and your application is reviewed, you will be invited to Step 2: The Interview so be sure to follow up if you do not hear from us after the application deadline. APPLICATION LINK

Counseling Newsletter is posted in your Canvas class - check out the latest edition!
9th-11th Graders and Families - Please join us on Wednesday, March 20 at 6pm on Zoom to learn more about early college planning! MBHS Counselors will go over various topics, strategies, resources, and tools. 6-7pm will focus on choosing a school, learning about the application process, and financial aid basics. From 7-7:30pm, we will talk about how students may enroll in community college courses during high school.
Attention 9th-11th Graders - San Diego State University will be holding a presentation for you this Friday (3/22) in the library at lunch! Come by to learn more about this college.

On April 22, 2024 prices will go up.
You will not be able to purchase a ticket if you are not on the VIP list.
If you are eligible to purchase a ticket but then lose VIP, there will be no refunds.
