Hispanic Heritage Month at Mission Bay High On Wednesday, September 20, 2023, we welcomed the Chairwoman of San Diego County Board of Supervisors and Representative for District 1, Nora Vargas. A true trail blazer, Ms. Vargas is commeded for being the first Latina, first binational (Fronteriza), and first woman of color to serve as County Supervisor in the near 200-year history of the County of San Diego. If you missed this wonderful event, the main message was the importance of empowering youth to take up space, have your voices heard, and contribute to the solutions that will shape your future. Chair Vargas concluded with this message: “I am the FIRST of many, but I most definitely will not be the last, and that is because of you, the youth, YOU ARE THE FUTURE”. Thank you to the students that collaborated and organized the assembly and a special Thank you to our Principal, Dr. Eric Brown, for making space for these voices to shine on our campus and to allow the opportunity to highlight Hispanic, Latino/a, Chicano/a excellence. LCFF - Parent participation in completing the LCFF form for each of our students is a top priority for our school. This quick 2 question survey has a critical impact on support and services offered here on campus and in our district. The completion of this form helps determine the State and Federal funding that schools receive. Next week, paper forms will be distributed and sent home with students whose parent/guardian has not completed this yet. We thank you for your support of Mission Bay High School programs and opportunities.
