The coffee aroma is exhilarating, and it makes people go crazy for it. However, the caffeine intake is a serious concern, and everyone is happier with it, but some people like having the taste without the effects. There are three main ways to make decaf coffee, and they are the Swiss Water Method, the Carbon Dioxide, and the Solvent Method.
Get the Facts About Decaffeinated Coffee says, “Decaffeination removes about 97% or more of the caffeine in coffee beans.” So this is a way to get rid of the caffeine. How to remove caffeine while using the Swiss Water Method. The Swiss Water Method is the only organic way to let out the caffeine. It uses no chemical solvents other than water itself (Oden). This method was first commercialized in the 1970s, but it was actually made in 1933. The method was originally made in Switzerland. For a while this was the only way to take caffeine without any harmful chemicals. When it was first commercialized, the process still had some rough patches: the caffeine wouldn’t come out all the way, or it just fully took everything out of the coffee bean. Which means it takes out all of the flavor.
How do you remove caffeine while using the Carbon Dioxide Method.The Carbon Dioxide Method was first made in the 1930s. According to the website Coffee With the Queen, “The CO2 Process, developed by Kurt Zosel.” He was a scientist that worked for Max Planck Institute located in Munich, Germany which was first founded in 1911. When adding heat and high pressure to the coffee beans, it opens the pores to let out the caffeine. This method takes a lot of Carbon Dioxide every time you use it.
How to remove caffeine with the Solvent Method and all of the things in it. This method uses two chemicals that are not very good. Java Presse says that this method uses Ethyl Acetate which is found naturally in ripe fruits, but it is artificially made in a lab. This method also uses Methylene Chloride. This chemical does not make the coffee bean taste weird, but it also speeds up the process of removing caffeine. This method was made in 1879 by people named Hannay and Hogarth. The beans are then opened up, and then they have the chemicals go into them. However, this method has changed over the years. The beans go in boiling water for a few hours, and then their pores open up and let out the caffeine.
There are three main ways to make decaf coffee, and they are the Swiss Water Method, the Carbon Dioxide, and the Solvent Method. The best way to remove the caffeine is to do the Swiss Water Method, because it is the only way to get the caffeine without using any harsh chemicals and it is not harmful to people or even animals. The solvent, the carbon and the swiss water methods are probably the ones that are actually good for you.
