Advanced Science: Zoology

Prerequisite: Biology I

One Credit/One Semester course

Course Description

  • ZOOLOGY is the scientific study of ANIMALS. This one semester course will be an in depth study of the Kingdoms Protista (protozoans only) and Animalia.

  • The course will begin with INVERTEBRATES such as sponges, cnidarians, echinoderms, arthropods, and several worm phyla.

  • The course will continue with VERTEBRATES such as fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals.

This is a LAB INTENSIVE course! Students engage in multiple DISSECTIONS and other lab activities.

You won't be expected to dissect alone, but you will be expected to participate.

This course will often address themes of EVOLUTION and CONSERVATION.
