Course Description

  • This is a full year course which will develop skills and present information in the areas of astronomy and space exploration, atmospheric and meteorological science, oceanography, geology, and paleontology.

  • This course will investigate problems in areas such as plate tectonics, glacial geology, earthquakes and volcanoes, weather forecasting, and space exploration.

  • Earth and Space Science is intended to be a lab course that includes studying the stars, planets and galaxies, rocks and minerals, movement of glaciers, predicting the weather, climate change, mountain building, and Earth’s changing surface.

Students spend time learning skills to apply in labs and in completing activities to better understand the world around us.

Ultimately, the goal of this course is to provide students with essential tools for understanding the Earth on which we live and the phenomena that we experience every day.
