Satellites:
Introduction to satellites
Natural satellites:
A natural body that orbits another body In space
Artificial satellites:
Artificial objects that have been launched into space.
Enduring understanding:
Much planning is put into developing a durable and useful satellite.
Satellites are transported from assembly areas to launch sites via special shipping containers.
STS
They are so crucial that satellites transport services perform a route survey before the transport.
Gaseous nitrogen purging:
An industrial process involves using nitrogen gas to remove unwanted gases or contaminants.
Primary components of a satellite:
Antenna
Power system
Propulsion system
Secondary parts
Housing
Command and data handling
Guidance and stabilisation
Thermal control
Contemporary issue:
Space Junk
We learnt about satellites and space junk. Space junk is hazardous because it can trap us on earth and cause space ships to get hit and damaged. Space junk can cause a ripple effect as space junk hits satellites, the satellites break into more space junk, and the cycle continues. We also learnt about the orbits of satellites. We also learned about parts of satellites and that satellites are very complicated.
