Today, I have learnt about blackholes and wormholes from the presentation. Blackholes are a region of spacetime with a gravitational effect so strong. Looks completely black because it absorbs any light that touches it. No force can keep a dead star from collapsing Its forever on a single points as the star collapses it gets closer to the event horizon. Time on the surface slows down relative to observers. When surface reaches event horizon, time stops. The different types of stars are that Small stars turn into white dwarfs (8 and lesser), larger becomes neutron (8 to 30) and the largest turns into black holes (> 30 solar masses). The parts of a black hole are the , Relativistic jet, Photon sphere, Accretion disc and the Singularity. The different types of black holes are stellar which formes from the death of individual stars. When compared to others, they are still pretty dense whic h consumes surrounding stars to grow bigger. Intermediate:
Mass is too high to formed because of the collapse of a single star
Theories
Merging of multiple high celestial bodies (Mass could be created by merging of multiple celestial objects.)
Runaway collision of stars in dense stellar clusters (Collision of several stars where two stars collided and set off a chain reaction)
Primordial black holes formed after the big bang (Making it easy for black holes to form with a mass much higher than stellar black holes to form)
Supermassive
Exist at the centre of every large galaxy
No exact cause has been determined
When they feed, they are quasars(galaxy sized stars)
There is also ultramssive black holes like Ton-618
The thing that I liked about this lesson is that I like the choice of the videos is that they are so detailed and they are colourful and helped me to visualise about wormholes and blackholes. The explanations helped to understand a ot more about blackholes and wormholes. I have also gained new knowledge about the black holes from the videos such as the parts and how they are formed. I have also learnt some theories on how they are formed like the merging of celestial bodies. I really enjoyed this lesson as it is easy to understand the concepts and the knowledge. I hope that this would continue from future lessons.
