I have learnt about more interesting facts about the night sky:
Night Sky
It refers to the night appearance of celestial objects such as stars and planets which are visible in a clear sky between sunrise and sunset, where it is visible.
No one can see the sihouette of an objects against the sky. The intensity of the sky varies greatly over the day and the primary cause differs as well
Light pollution is the presence of unwanted, inappropriate, or excessive artificial lighting. Sadly,in some countries, we can barely observe them, and may be just satelittes
Clouds obscure the view of other objects in the sky, through varying thicknesses of cloud cover have differeing effects. A thin cirrus cloud in front of the moon might produce a rainbow coloured ring around the moon. Thicker cloud cover obsures them entirely.
A constellation is an area on the celestial sphere in which a group of visible stars forms a perceived outline or pattern, typically representing an animal, mythological subject, or inanimate object. there are 88 offical ones.
The big dipper is helpful for navigation in the nevigation in the northern hemisphere because it points to Polaris, the north star. The pole stars are special because they are approximately in line with the Earth axis of rotation so they appear to stay in one place while the other stars revolve around them through the coiurse of a night.
Planets are named after the greek word for wanderer, executing loops with time scales dependant on the length of the planet’s year or orbital period around solar system. Planets, to the naked eye, appear as points of light in the sky ith variable brightness, due to the sunlight refelecting or scattering.
With observatory objects, it appear as discs demonstrating finite size, as it is possible to observe orbiting moons whcih cast shadows onto the host planet surface.
In conclusion, I think this lesson did add some more knowledge to what I currently know and feel about the night sky. I have learnt about some constellations that can be spotted with the night sky as I don't really look at constellations much. I also know that it is quite impossible to see stars in Singapore because there is too much light pollution and that causes us to believe that night is day. This does show how dangerous light pollution is humans. I have also learnt about how planets are named by Greek. I feel that this lesson did well in many ways like the presentation skills and the kahoot quiz. I do wish that the organization oif the people could be better as they do seem a little messed up something.
