Telescopes(Hands-on)

Today, I was invited to help out with the preperation for the telescopes lesson. I managed to learn about the mechanics of the telescopes, how they work and the lenses that are used. I also managed to learn some theory that were mostly a recap to what I have learnt like the electromagnetic spectrum, blue shift and red shift and also some information of the doppler effect. I have also learnt what are the disadvantages and the advantages of the telescope like chromatic abberation and the cost of the telescopes. I have also finally managed to absorb the information on how refractor telescopes work such that when light goes through the lens and it converges into a focal point which then the light rays enlarge again so that we can see the image.

Overall, this lesson has helped me to learn how the astro club runs and how things are prepped before a lesson starts. I managed to uphold a heavy reponsibility for the club and practice my critical thinking skills and apply it. I love how I managed to try the different astronomy equipment like the telescopes and the binoculous so that I can see far things. However, my group mates were a little disappointed because I did not stick around to help them so I think I can improve on spending time with my teammates better and teach them to be independant and not rely on me so much anymore.
