Writing Artist Statements
Portfolio Organization and Digital Portfolio Reflections
Reflection is vital to the learning process.
For each new assignment, you will create a new page in your Digital Portfolio.
These pages should include a high-quality image that is cropped so the entire artwork is visible; a caption that indicates the size and media of the artwork; as well as your artist statement/reflection.
Your artist statement should serve to answer the questions...What did you do (a description of the project and your product)? How did you do It (analyze your use of the elements and principles of art and your process)? Why did you make certain artistic decisions?
And, finally, how successful do you think the finished product is (what are your favorite parts, what did you struggle with what might you do differently next time)?
