Painted Collage

This project is the last piece of our color and painting unit.

We started with the color value scale, which involved adding white and black to a primary color and then mixing two primaries to create a secondary color and then doing the same with the secondary color.

Following that we worked on mixing tertiary or intermediate colors from the primaries and secondaries then creating a design incorporating previously learned elements and principles of art.  In this project we created all colors on the traditional color wheel plus multiple tints and shades of each.

The last piece is to use our newly acquired color mixing and paint application skills to reproduce a collage that you will create (inspired by contemporary and/or historical art movements and makers). The emphasis here is on observational color matching (mixing colors to match the colors that you see) and applying the paint to correctly interpret the a variety of photographic textures.  Remember that his is an interpretation.  It is not meant to be a photorealistic painting; such an expectation would be unrealistic given your experience level.
