ASSIGNMENT

For this project, you will be creating an edition of prints that demonstrate your understanding of printmaking processes (from creating the block through inking and printing to signing your prints)

Your final edition should have four* properly signed prints; one in each of four categories.

1/4 Black and White

2/4 Extended Print

3/4 Alternate Background

4/4 Artist’s Choice

* plus any number of APs (there should be one for each change in the block)

OBJECTIVES

• Learn about printmaking as a unique form of art

• Create a design that effectively uses positive and negative space relationships to create the forms of your face

• Understand and demonstrate safe carving techniques and proper studio maintenance

• Understand and demonstrate proper inking, printing, and signing procedures.
