Class Jobs

Instead of assigning class jobs, the 4th graders are applying for the class job they want. This week, students looked at each job requirement and the qualifications needed, then filled out a job application to convince Mrs. Skinner and Mr. Branband to hire them.

Classroom Scavenger Hunt

This week we explored our second home for the next 9 months! The students have requested that I get more bouncy balls for the class, as they seem to be the favorite place to sit!

Getting To Know You!

We spent a lot of time this week sharing our favorite things, finding out how we are alike and unique, and reading books about how our individual characteristics add to our classroom community in amazing ways.

I would highly recommend the two books we read: The Name Jar by Yangsook Choi and Red, A Crayon's Story by Michael Hall.

Lower School Scavenger Hunt

At the end of the day, Friday, per Roycemore tradition, the lower school students all donned their new t-shirts and took a picture on the hill. The fourth graders buddied up with first graders to help them with a "Find Somebody Who" Scavenger Hunt.

Classroom Community Building

The fourth graders completed the Red Solo Cup Challenge! Students were given tools (straws, cotton balls, rubber bands, and string) to use to stack the cups without touching the cups with any part of their body. This activity required team work, cooperation, creativity and problem solving. All of the groups came up with a different way to stack the cups successfully.
