Week 5

Hi all! I hope you are making time to enjoy the outdoors now that the weather is a lot nicer. Making sure, of course, that you take appropriate safety precautions to stay well. Here are some activities you can perform to focus on YOU and your well-being this week.

I hope to hear from you!

Meditation Monday

Blue Balloon Meditation

While we cannot control the world around us, we can control our response to the world. Use this video to quiet your mind, stop negative thoughts, and just RELAX for a few minutes.

Ted talk tuesday

Are you aware of your facial expressions and the messages they give? Does a smile mean the same thing in all languages? Watch this week's TED Talk video to find out.

While you are home with family consider how your facial expressions are being interpreted. Do you look annoyed or irritated, and is that causing you and your siblings to argue? How can you be more aware of what your facial expressions are telling those around you about what you are actually feeling?

Wellness wednesday

Sometimes the best way to lift our mood is to think of all the amazing things in our lives. Regardless of the negativity, let's look to the positive side of things. Below is a scavenger hunt for you to do to remind you of all the things in your life for which you can be grateful.

Gratitude Scavenger Hunt

  1. Find something or someone that makes you laugh.

  2. Find a place in your house that you love.

  3. Find something about the morning that you enjoy.

  4. Find something about night time that you enjoy.

  5. Find someone you are grateful for.

  6. Find something that smells amazing.

  7. Find something that tastes delicious.

  8. Find something that is useful to you.

  9. Find something that reminds you of the people you love.

  10. Find something you know someone else will enjoy.

How many items were you able to check off the list?

thoughtful thursday

Prompt:

Today's prompt: What have you learned during your time at home that you feel will be useful to you for the rest of your life?

This is a great time to keep a writing journal of your thoughts everyday! Grab a notebook, use the 'Notes' app in your phone, share with a friend or family member...or share with me! Use the link below to answer this week's writing prompt (only Ms. Valle can see your answer).

Daily Affirmation

Feeling down about being home all the time? Consider repeating this daily affirmation to yourself every day this week. Remember that you can change your feelings about a situation by changing your perspective.

"I can handle this temporary discomfort."
