Critical Thinking
Challenge students to creatively connect random emojis in an original narrative ⏰😡🌵. Similar to the popular game Story Cubes, the Google Sheet to the right generates unique story possibilities for students using emojis. Created and shared by Eric Curts, the file has been coded to generate random emojis for students to incorporate into a story.
Choose how many emojis you want students to include in their narrative by selecting a tab at the bottom
Click on the writing prompt cell at the top of the page
Press Ctrl + R to generate a new combination
Instruct students to write while including all of the generated emojis
The Emojimix link below combines two emojis randomly for a similar creative writing activity.
Creativity
An AI experiment, Text FX has 10 tools to help writers, rappers, and wordsmiths brainstorm creative expressions. Once you launch the lab, select one of the tools at the top and enter the words the tool is asking for. The unexpect tool claims it will "make a scene more unexpected and imaginative." I entered "studying for an exam" and one of the results was "studying for an exam on the back of a camel in the Sahara desert." 🏜️🐪
Collaboration
Padlet
A key component of true collaboration is the ability to give feedback. Padlet gives students the ability to comment and react to each other's posts. If you're worried about students posting unhelpful comments, Padlet gives teachers three moderation options: manually approve all posts, manually approve all posts from students, and allow posts detected as inappropriate by Padlet's Safety Net AI moderation system to require approval.
