Design Based Learning

Thank you to all the teachers who attended Rialto's 1st Excellence in Education conference last week, especially those who attended my Design Based Learning session 🥰.  What did you miss? Participants used Wipebooks to chart the differences between on-task vs. engaged students. Collectively, we agreed that engaged classrooms are student centered. Students are engaged when learning is personal, authentic, novel, has opportunities for choice, and a sense of audience (Antonetti & Garver, 2015). Design Based Learning has ALL of that! The workshop ended with a demonstration of how students can use Padlet and Interactive Google Slides to share their Design Based Learning creations.
