The sound of children echoes inside the busy mall, with late Christmas gift buyers rushing to get what they desire as the feeling of Christmas isn’t complete with gifts. It will be Elaine's gift to get to the end of her shift without slapping an annoying and overbearing parent. A fake smile plastered on her face as she guides another family into “Santa's Snowy Wonderland” greeting them joyously trying to mask her resentment as they came for a flashy, overpriced picture. Her uniform, covered in frills and tinsel of the various Christmas colors and a snowy white fluffy lining on the rims of her dress along with golden embroiderment dancing across it too. Puff sleeves with white stripes following it down to the bottom of the sleeves of the arms.
The most high budget elf costume to be put in just to take pictures of family after family with fake smiles to cover up their true feelings ,she had thought to herself as her bitter heart shrunk even more. The fluorescent lights burn into her eyes as she watches the hours go along with the changing faces of children passing by to say hello to Santa. A passed middle aged man with a cheap, stringy beard covered in brown burns with the smell of cigarettes lingering as he asks the children what they wish for Christmas. The color of sounds surrounded her work as people filled with Christmas spirit walk through Santa's Snowy Wonderland filled with joy as she remained equally as dissatisfied as she had just been stabbed in the back by her collage kicking her out, and having to live out on the streets just scraping by. A chill had embraced her as she saw it was ten before midnight, her shift was over and she had to leave facing the streets as she stared into the closed mall filled with Christmas lights illuminating the haunting space, haunting her mind.
