I chose to write all of my vignettes about traditions and memories at Christmas time in my family. Every year in December, we all drive around town together and admire the Christmas lights and decorations. My mom always makes her special Grinch-themed popcorn with green candy melts, m&ms, marshmallows and sweet n' salty popcorn. All three of these vignettes show a snapshot of my favorite Christmas memories. The second vignette is about my family and I sitting in the living room with all of the Christmas lights on, and the fireplace going. "How The Grinch Stole Christmas" is an all-time favorite of mine, especially the Jim Carrey version. We watch this movie at least once every Christmas season. My final vignette is about a Christmas performance that I did when I was eleven years old. I performed My favorite Time of Year by The Florin Street Band. I still sing this song to this day, even now that I am seventeen. I absolutely loved singing this song, but I was so nervous to get up onstage and sing my heart out. I specifically chose to add this memory into my writing because singing is my life. It is my favorite thing to do. Also, my mom basically found this song out of thin air. We were searching for a song that I could sing for my Christmas recital, she found My Favorite Time of Year on YouTube. It was such a great song that I decided to sing it at church as well! (the vignette is about the church performance) There are not a lot of people who are familiar with this song. But it is beautiful! The message is so inspiring and the melody is gorgeous.
