I sit in the dimly-lit living room, in my light pink, plaid pajamas, nestled on the sofa with a hot, steaming mug of hot cocoa. My soft, grey cat resting on my lap as the small rumble of her purring grows louder. The warm, cozy fireplace illuminates the area and I feel the subtle buzzing of heat on my face. My cat carefully squints at the fire, trying to avoid the bright flame. She turns her head away from the light and buries her small head into the side of my arm. As the beautiful, green tree spins, the silver and gold ornaments sparkle and reflect with the stunning white glow from the lights on the tree. A quiet, classic melody of Christmas music plays in the background of the scene, I meekly hum along, as I wait for my family to join me in the living room. The aroma of shortbread cookies baking envelopes the room, my mouth waters as I imagine the taste of the soft, sprinkled cookie. I hear the creaking of the stairs as my brother enters the room, also holding a mug of hot cocoa. He sits down beside me and wraps himself in a red blanket with tiny snowflakes scattered about. Finally, my parents enter the room and sink into the sofa. My dad points the remote at the T.V. The screen flashes, as the image of a cranky-looking green man and his dog appear on the screen.
