Learning Aid Ohio www.learningohio.com
Learning Aid Ohio aims to provide in-person, supplemental learning support for students with IEPs, and 504 Plans in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and remote learning.
Our goal is to connect families with Learning Providers to help students stay on track toward their academic goals, specific to their individual needs, and based on the curriculum their traditional teachers set.
How does it work for families:
Learning Aid Ohio aims to connect students learning on IEPs or 504 Plans with experienced learning providers to provide in-person, supplemental support. Once approved, families are able to browse available learning providers in their area, and connect with someone who would be a good fit. After conducting an introductory interview, families are then able to use their Learning Aid Ohio grant to book tutoring sessions with their preferred learning provider.
To qualify, students must be learning on an Individualized Education Program (IEP) or 504 Plan, and be an Ohio resident. To apply, please visit the "For Families" tab at www.learningohio.com

School Psychology: The Putnam County Educational Service Center's School Psychology Department serves the nine school districts in Putnam County, Ohio. Our team of school psychologists are uniquely qualified members of school multidisciplinary team, who work to support our students' ability to learn, and our teachers' ability to teach. They consult with school personnel, families, mental health professionals, and outside agencies to support and improve strategies for learning.
When a student is referred for assessment through the IAT (Intervention Assistance Team) process, our school psychologist work with the individual student (grades preschool through 12th) to assess strengths and weaknesses, identify potential barriers to learning, and make recommendations for strategies to improve student progress and outcomes. Our school psychologist provide direct support and planning to the classrooms with school-based and home-based intervention strategies. They also work with school administrators to improve school-wide practices and policies, and collaborate with community providers to coordinate needed services, while applying expertise in mental health, learning, and behavior to help children and youth succeed academically, socially, behaviorally, and emotionally. Our team of school psychologists partner with families, teachers, school administrators, and other professionals to create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments that strengthen connections between home, school, and the community.
Special Education: The Putnam County Educational Center's Special Education Department is please to serve all nine school districts in the county, focused on educational opportunities for students with special needs and moderate to severe learning or behavioral disabilities. Each of the classrooms utilize the most recent innovative strategies to educate each child on an individualized basis, all utilizing Specially Designed Instruction. We are privileged to work in partnership with all of the public schools in the county, employing 17 teachers, Speech Therapist, School Psychologists, a School Counselor, Occupational Therapist, and multiple paraprofessionals. We pride our department on high quality, individualized instruction with innovative programs while focusing on the 'whole child.'

The program is funded through a grant from the Ohio Department of Education. The mission of the program is to provide the necessary support and resources to families of children with disabilities and the professionals who serve them. A Parent Mentor can help families understand their rights and responsibilities, attend the Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and other meetings at the request of families or educational staff, listen to and support both families and educators on an individual basis as well as help identify community resources to families and schools. Ohio Department of Education (Adult Education)
1-877-644-6338 education.ohio.gov
The Ohio Department of Education offers several options for adults to earn their high school diplomas and/or High School Equivalence Certificates. Maps can be found on the website to help locate service options in your area.
Three Options:
The 22+ Adult High School Diploma Program helps adults earn a high school diploma. The program is free to adults who are over 22 years old, living in Ohio and do not have a diploma or a GED.
Counselors work with the adult learners to develop individual plans to identify the courses and assessments needed to graduate and earn a diploma. Providers try their best to schedule instructional dates and times to meet the needs of adult learners.
Please contact one of the 22+ Adult HSD Programs listed below where someone will answer your questions and help you enroll in a program to earn your high school diploma.
To receive information and deadline reminders about Ohio's 22+ Adult Diploma Program text OHED DP to 468311.
Adult Diploma Program
The Adult Diploma Program provides job training and an alternate pathway for adults, ages 20 or older, to earn an industry-recognized credential aligned to one of Ohio’s in-demand jobs (after passing the WorkKeys, course requirements, and assessments) AND awarded a state-issued high school diploma.
What makes this program different from a traditional high school setting is the delivery of instruction to adults. Instead of measuring academic achievement through clock hours, seat time or credits earned, the focus is on a competency-based approach that provides a self-paced option. Once competencies have been learned, adults then demonstrate mastery of skill. Each eligible adult works with the provider to create a customized student success plan.
High School Equivalence (GED/HiSET/TASK)
Individuals who are 18 and older, withdrawn from school and have not earned a high school diploma are eligible to take the high school equivalency tests. Individuals who are 16 and 17 years old, are eligible to test with parental consent (include documentation), and a current school withdrawal form signed by a school official. Students must register online for the test of their choice and submit all required documentation to the Department’s Ohio High School Equivalence Office. If you are unable to submit a signed withdrawal form because your community school is closed, you may submit a letter stating your desire to take a high school equivalency test. Please include the name of the last school you attended and your last date of attendance. The Department of Education will verify withdrawal information through the community school’s sponsor.
