You will be required to submit several preclinical requirements, which include immunization records and a new drug screen.
Immunization records and drug screens are submitted and reviewed through CastleBranch.
Please begin submitting preclinical requirements 2-3 months before your first clinical course, as it can take time to gather your immunization records and complete the drug screen.
If you have any questions or concerns about the immunization records or drug screen requirements, please contact your Clinical Student Manager.
For the privacy of your records, do not send any immunization records or drug screen results to your Clinical Student Manager. These records must be completed through CastleBranch.
⚠️ If you used CastleBranch at a previous school, Purdue University Global is not able to access those records. You must create new CastleBranch accounts using the instructions below.
If you are asked for a "package code" when setting up your CastleBranch accounts, please review the directions and start over. If the CastleBranch account set up directions are followed, you will not be asked for a package code.
This is a separate account from your background check and drug screen accounts.

Note: Some programs may have additional preclinical requirements not listed below. Please visit your program's page for more program specific information.
• Some clinical sites may charge a fee for placement; you will be notified of such a requirement. You as the student are responsible for any fees charged by your clinical site.
• Some clinical sites may also require onboarding documentation, separate from Purdue Global’s requirements, as necessary, to comply with specific organizational, federal, or state requirements for nursing student candidates. You must complete both Purdue Global and clinical site onboarding requirements. Please communicate any site required onboarding documents to your Clinical Student Manager. Failure to submit appropriate documentation to participate in a clinical by the required date will result in you being unable to register for the course.
• You will be notified if an additional background check is required. If requested by the facility/clinical team, complete the criminal background check through purdueglobal.castlebranch.com. Full instructions for an additional background check are found in CORE ELMS. Additional criminal background checks may be required following a leave of absence or at the discretion of the School of Nursing.
If requested, students who reside in Minnesota must complete an additional background check through the MN DHS. Instructions can be found in CORE ELMS or by emailing your clinical student manager.
These items must be uploaded to CORE ELMS for review and approval:
• Nursing License
Your license must be active and unencumbered and show an expiration date. You must maintain a current, unencumbered RN license during all clinical rotations. Your RN license must allow you to practice in the location of your clinical site(s). If your state no longer issues paper licenses, simply go to your state Board of Nursing's website or nursys.com and verify your license. You can then save a copy and submit it in CORE ELMS.
• Emergency Contact Form
• Handbook Acknowledgement Form
• Basic Life Support (BLS) card for healthcare providers through the American Heart Association
Must be current and maintained throughout all clinical courses. Failure to maintain certification will result in removal from the clinical setting. Only certification from organizations certified by the American Heart Association will be accepted.
• Liability Insurance (may be required depending on your program and/or facility)
Nurse Practitioner students are required to maintain student nurse professional liability insurance. This is different from your regular malpractice policy. Be sure to specify "student nurse practitioner" when requesting malpractice insurance. The required minimum coverage is $1 million per occurrence and $3 million aggregate. Some facilities may require additional coverage, and students completing a clinical at one of those facilities will be expected to obtain coverage that meets the facility's criteria. Students are responsible for the costs of liability insurance.
