Start Early
Begin securing placements in your first term of study.
Clinical sites often require months to approve placements.
Student-Initiated Process
You are responsible for identifying and networking with sites/preceptors.
Use personal/professional connections, state nursing organizations, or social media.
If you're struggling to find sites, reach out to the Clinical Student Support Team for help.
Compliance & Certification
Maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) card for healthcare providers through the American Heart Association throughout all clinical courses.
Complete preclinical requirements.
Approved Sites & Logistics
Approved Sites Only:
Clinical experiences must occur at sites approved by Purdue Global faculty and the Clinical Student Support Team.
Travel & Costs:
Be prepared to travel up to 90+ miles from your home.
You are responsible for transportation, housing, and site-specific fees.
Communication
Notify your Clinical Student Manager of schedule changes.
Update sites/preceptors if your clinical term changes.
Your Clinical Student Manager (CSM) is available to assist you throughout the clinical experience. You will be assigned to a CSM, based on your program and state of residence, who will assist you in the following ways:
Provides the materials to help you prepare for the clinical experience.
Assists you with understanding the clinical placement requirements.
Works with you in securing your clinical sites and preceptors.
Serves as a resource for sites and preceptors who have questions regarding requirements or the affiliation agreement.
Verifies all documents submitted before or during the clinical experience.
Clears you to register for your clinical course after confirming all requirements are completed.

Please follow these steps to seek a resolution to any issue or problem related to your clinical placement:
Discuss the issue with your Clinical Student Manager.
If you are not satisfied with the outcome of the discussion with your Clinical Student Manager, you can request that your issue be brought to the attention of the Clinical Team Supervisor. The contact information for the Clinical Team Supervisor is found on the contact lists at this link.
If you remain unsatisfied or the issue remains unresolved after speaking with the Clinical Team Supervisor, you may request that the issue be reviewed by the School of Nursing administration (e.g., Assistant Dean of Students, Academic Program Chair). The Clinical Team Supervisor can provide you with their contact information.
Please note, clinical rotations are not permitted in certain states. Please review the Program Availability Information in the catalog for information on states in which programs are not available.
